I am an absolute work-a-holic. But I love what I do, and it's something that I can do throughout the day... show houses during the day, or have a listing appointment, do research at night... Answering texts, calls, and emails at all hours... Very time consuming, but I love it. Vacations, to me, typically mean taking my computer and Blackberry with me, answering calls as they come in, and working when I'm at the hotel or condo.
Everyone needs to take a vacation from it all, though-- myself included! Not a vacation like I typically take, but one away from the stresses of work and every day household duties. It's good for you! Here are some reasons why:
1. A vacation can keep you healthy! It allows you to recharge, which in turn lowers your stress level. Not to mention, it improves your mood.
2. Vacations can strengthen your relationships. When we work ALL the time, and also focus on household chores or being a taxi for the kids, it's hard to focus on important time with your family. Vacations give you that time away to enjoy your family, with no distractions.
3. They can lead to better job performance. With rest and renewal while on vacation, you return to work with a better attitude and ready to take on the world!
4. Vacations keep you from burning out!! I can always tell when I need to get away, because stress takes over, and then I need a break. You return a more productive, creative, and most importantly, relaxed person.
So whether it's a 2 day getaway near home, or a week long trip across country, make sure to go and leave the laptop and paperwork behind you! It will be waiting for you when you return, and you'll be better prepared to deal with that long "to do" list! Vacations are good for you in so many ways.
