A lot of factors come into play in order to get a house SOLD:  condition, price, location, location, location.... Add in a Realtor, and what can they bring to the table? Marketing!  When interviewing Realtors, one of the most important questions you can ask is, "How will you market my home?" 

All Realtors will put the house in the MLS... But does it go into all available MLS systems (in our case in Rock Hill, that means the Piedmont MLS, which is York County, as well as the Carolina MLS, which is the Charlotte system)?  Do they add the listing everywhere they possibly can online, because over 82% of buyers in our current market begin their home search online.  Do they put a sign and flyers out in front of the house and stop there?  Do they have a website?

Lots to consider, but keep in mind that marketing is how every possible buyer finds out that your house is for sale.  Question your Realtor. Ask for a specific marketing plan.  Your Realtor's job will not be to sell your house himself or herself, but to make it known to all that your house is available for sale!  :)
