(I'm a day behind... playing catch up... )
Day 5... I'm thankful for traditions. I'm a creature of habit. My mom will tell you, I HATE for anything to change. I love traditions-- keeping holidays the same, etc-- and I don't do well with deviating from that. I was lucky enough to have all four of my grandparents until I was 25. At that time, I had a 1 year old daughter, and I lost my paternal grandfather. I think the hardest part of growing up for me has been the changing traditions as we've since lost my paternal grandmother and my maternal grandfather. I'm sure some of it also has to do with cousins getting older, and having children of their own-- on my dad's side, I've lost count of how many great grandchildren, but I think we have 27?? Actually more... So I know it's impossible for things to stay the same, now that we have our own families, and in-laws, and now that those grandparents aren't with us. But it doesn't mean I have to like it. I have learned, though, over the last few years, that it's ok and it's time to start those new traditions with MY little family of 5. I want my children to be more accepting of change than I am, but I also want them to be appreciative of tradition. That's my Day 5. What are YOU thankful for today?
